Please read the following carefully, and acknowledge your understanding
In seeking assistance from the George Mason School of Law’s Mason Veterans and Servicemembers Legal Clinic (MVETS), I understand that:

  1. If my case is accepted, I will be represented by law students under the supervision of licensed attorneys.
  2. Because MVETS does not recommend attorneys to supervise MVETS students for every kind of case or every applicant,
I must meet certain eligibility requirements.
  3. MVETS is independent of the Department of Defense and will decide whether to recommend an attorney to supervise MVETS student(s) representing my interests, not those of the Department of Defense or the United States government.
  4. Representation is free, but incidental costs such as administrative costs and filing fees will be my responsibility.
  5. MVETS will notify me as soon as possible of its decision to accept or decline to recommend an attorney to supervise a MVETS student in representing me. If MVETS has requested that I provide additional documents or information, I should comply as soon as I can so that MVETS may make a final decision about whether to assist me.
  6. Prior to undertaking representation, MVETS will prepare a letter detailing the agreement with me and explaining each party’s responsibilities. If I agree, I shall sign and return the letter agreement to MVETS.
  7. The law student assigned to my case could be substituted by another MVETS student at the clinic director’s discretion.
  8. MVETS reserves the right to terminate after undertaking to represent me for various reasons. These reasons could include, but are not limited to, my intentional or negligent misrepresentation or omission of materials regarding my case, or my failure to provide requested documents or information or otherwise assist with my case. If MVETS terminates, it will provide written notification to the mailing and/or email address I provided on my applicant intake form. If MVETS terminates, the student assigned to my case will no longer work on my case, however, the supervising attorney will continue to represent me unless such representation is terminated by me or the supervising attorney.

By checking this box, I acknowledge that I understand and accept the above terms and conditions
